WINTER CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
November 30 thru February 18, 2011-2012

**NEW** Playgrounds (K and 1st Graders)
Young imaginations will join together, working with instructor Sandra Rae Davies, to create their own play. We'll focus on enhancing acting, dancing and singing skills, as well as playing fun improv games to open ourselves up to spontaneous creative bursts that will help us tap into our mind's playground.  A play will be presented to family and friends at the end of the session.
TIME: Fridays, 3:30pm-4:30pm (10 classes) 
DATES: 12/2, 12/9, 12/16, 1/6, 1/13, 1/20, 1/27, 2/3, 2/10, 2/17

**NEW** It’s Showtime! A Smörgåsbord of variety arts (2nd and 3rd Graders)
Come one, come all. Find your Funny Bone! Turn somersaults and juggle to your heartʼs delight as you explore the arts of acting, acrobatics, circus, clowning, juggling, mime, mask, movement and improvisation. Dance in giant paper bag masks! Spin a lasso! Create your own piece! Then put it all together for…Showtime! Share your one-of-a-kind creations and delight family and friends as you take a big bow and say “Tah Dah!”
TIME: Wednesdays, 3:30pm-5:00pm (10 classes)

Acting Out! (4th and 5th Graders)
Students will develop their acting skills through work in role-playing, story dramatization, and improvisation.  Emphasis will be placed on performing instinctively and spontaneously with clarity and confidence.  Activities will focus on improvisation and acting “in the moment.”  Families will be invited to a class sharing on the last day of the session. 
TIME: Fridays, 5:00pm-6:00pm (10 classes)

**NEW** The Performance of Wonder: A Magic Class
(4th and 5th Graders)
Magic is perhaps the oldest performing art.  In this class, you will learn more tricks than you can fit up your sleeve but more importantly, this class will focus on the performance and drama of magic; focusing on storytelling, the principles of how and why it works, improvisation and audience participation.  We will also watch video performance clips from some of the world's greatest magicians. This class is taught by Mill Valley's own Chris the Magish, who studied theatre at Northwestern University and has performed hundreds of magic shows.
TIME: Saturdays, 11:00am-12:00pm (9 classes)
DATES: 12/3, 12/10, 1/7, 1/14, 1/21, 1/28, 2/4, 2/11, 2/18.

Stand Up! (6th, 7th, 8th & 9th Graders)
A beginners guide to creating and performing a five-minute stand up routine. Under the guidance of comic performer and teacher, Michael Bossier, this class will feature many well-known guest stand-up comedians who will help craft individual routines.  A performance will be held on the last class featuring the students’ individual routines
TIME: Wednesdays, 5:00pm-6:00pm (10 classes)

Friday Glee Club (For Performers, Ages 8 to 10)
Discover the performer inside you at Friday Glee Club! From rehearsals to performance, students will develop their skills as dancers, singers and actors in a creative and nurturing environment.  Bay Area performer, Jordan Best and popular local pianist, Ricca Wolf, will lend their experience, expertise and a whole lot of fun to this class, which will culminate in a performance on the 142 Throckmorton stage!
Space is limited!

Saturday Glee Club (For Performers, Ages 11 to 13)
Explore the world of Broadway and musical theatre in Saturday Glee Club! From rehearsals to performance, students will develop their skills as dancers, singers and actors in a creative and nurturing environment.  Under the leadership of Bidalia E. Albanese, each student will participate in both featured and ensemble scenes and songs.  The class will culminate in a performance on the 142 Throckmorton stage!

TIME: Saturdays, 10:00am-12:00pm (9 classes)
