"LITTLE THROCK", a production class for young people!!! (ages 6 to 10)
Disney's Winnie the Pooh
This class is designed to meet the needs of young people with a desire to get on stage! Students will be taught the basics of acting, singing and dance, then put their new skills to work in a 'little' production of WINNIE THE POOH, with costumes, sets, the works! All participants will be in the show! Sign up quick, space is limited!
Disney's Winnie the Pooh welcomes audiences to the Hundred Acre Wood, where Winnie the Pooh is once again in search of honey. Along the way, he meets his pals Tigger, Piglet, Rabbit, and Owl, but soon discovers that Christopher Robin has been captured by the Backson! As they prepare for a rescue operation, the animals learn about teamwork, friendship, and sharing snacks.
Saturdays, 10am-12pmActor's Ensemble 6th-8th Graders
In this stimulating workshop, participants will be encouraged to play, think, and create,--discovering their own confidence, inspiration, communication and joy in creating with others. Activities will include theatre games, improvisation exercises, scene and character work and investigating acting through movie scenes. Families will be invited to a performance showcase on the last day of the session.
Wednesdays, 4:45pm-6:00pmActing Out (Acting I) 3rd-5th Graders
Students will develop their acting skills through work in role-playing, story dramatization, and improvisation. Emphasis will be placed on performing instinctively and spontaneously with clarity and confidence. Activities will focus on improvisation and acting "in the moment." Families will be invited to a class sharing on the last day of the session.
Fridays, 3:30pm-4:30pmRockin' the Throck (Acting II) 4th-6th Graders
This class is for serious acting students. Advanced skills in character work, scene study, and directing will be taught by Bay Area performer and educator, Sandra Rae Davies. Sandra will guide students toward stronger acting choices and richer characters through theater work that is challenging and fun. These skills will be used to create an original piece, which will be performed on the Throckmorton stage on the final day of class! Families and friends will be invited to the performance on the last day of class.
Fridays, 4:45pm - 6:00pmStudio Throck **NEW** 9th-12th Graders
This is an advanced class for serious students. This class will focus mainly on honing skills in dramatic acting through scene study. Students will study 3 different playwrights over the first 4 weeks to gain an understanding of some of the modern classics, and explore different styles of work. Scenes will be chosen from these plays, worked on in class, memorized, and performed with basic costumes and set pieces in front of an invited audience at the end of the session.
